The High Speed Data Logger provides a configurable on-line event detection mechanism. The event is based on preconfigured conditions occurring on one or more channels. The event condition is defined in the form of a formula with the same syntax as for Channel Math. The maximum number of events is limited by available CPU resources, typically up-to 50 events.

In case an event is detected:

  • The popup window is immediately shown to operator on client PC (operator console) which is running the Operator Module (software application)
  • The time and name of the event is stored on a table of event records. In addition, pre- and post-trigger period can be defined for data freezing. When event-related data freezing is selected, the data from all channels within the defined period around the event are copied to a separate location on HSDL hard drives, so that they are not overwritten by new data when the hard drive for continuous data is nearly full.

The amount of detected events is limited only by available disk space. Typically, the capacity should be sufficient to hold millions of events. Stored events can be viewed either in a table or as marks in graph view of analog and digital channels.

The user access to events configuration management and confirmation can be limited in order to provide higher security levels of HSDL operations.
